This is my first 1911 but so far it has shot well with no problems. It’s extremely accurate and is a quality gun that has tons of features not usually available at near this price. I don’t see any reason to spend more for less. This thing is great.

My new Taurus came in quick and looks great. All tolerances are tight. Magazine is sturdy. I am noticing a. Issue with feeding while having a full mag and one in the chamber. Easy enough to run 7 in mag and 1 in the chamber. Seems to be a common issue. Overall this is a beautiful gun at a good price.

The best value out there in a 1911! Forged frame, Lowered and flared ejection port, great sights, solid trigger, rather heavy, but with no creep and a quick reset. Very accurate gun and absolutely the best I’ve ever shot one-handed. This gun even has checkering on the front of grips which makes it very comfortable. Excellent slide to frame fit, still tight, even after break in. I’ve got 300+ rounds through it and no issues at all. Fit and finish is perfect. This is a great platform to practice mods on. The grip safety, trigger pull, could use some polishing, but what a great value! Comes with only one Magazine, but the 47D form Wilson Combat runs perfect. I did not have luck with the Chip McCormick and one other. I plan on Bobtailing the frame, polishing the internals and adding stag grips. Great gun right out of the box!

The Taurus 1911 Commander looks great and shoots well. I’ve taken apart and cleaned the 1911 4 times after firing just over 200 rounds of FMJ and a magazine of hollow points. No issues at all with the function of the firearm. This is a heavy and nearly full-sized 1911, so weight may be an issue for smaller people thinking about CCW. Since Taurus usually uses their own cut on the sights, changing them doesn’t allow for too many choices, however I’m satisfied enough with the original sights. This 1911 has a guide rod and spring assembly, so breakdown takes a just a little more time and effort. Thankfully, the 1911 comes with a handy tool to depress the guide rod cap and turn the barrel bushing because it takes a strong thumb to take the bushing assembly apart and to reassemble. After about 200 rounds with no issues, this very tight 1911 is beginning to loosen up nicely. Like other Taurus 1911’s, you get plenty for your money and a nice shooting piece. I’d give it 5 stars as a shooter, but the limited choices for sight upgrades and the extra effort for breakdown and assembly make it worth 4 for me. I would definitely recommend this Taurus 1911 Commander model for anyone that’s interested in keeping the factory sights and doesn’t mind just a little extra thumb effort when taking it apart and putting it back together.
